St Bede’s is the world’s only state-funded, fully ecumenical Christian comprehensive secondary school, located in Redhill. It is run as a partnership between all the major Christian denominations and serves approximately 1,700 boys and girls of all abilities and social backgrounds from the towns of Redhill, Reigate, Horley and Caterham in Surrey.
Priority is given to pupils from families living within the areas served by the school, where at least one parent is an active member of a Christian Church, though some spaces are reserved for those children without any Christian affiliation who have a particular need to join the school.
St Bede’s works very closely with parents and the local Churches, working towards a common mission and values to educate children in the area. We are recognized by Churches Together in England as a formal ecumenical project and are provided by the Anglican Diocese of Southwark and the RC Diocese of Arundel and Brighton.

About Us

In May 2009 the Parish of the Nativity of the Lord was officially inaugurated by Bishop Kieran Conry, bringing together in a single united community worshippers from the former Parishes of St Joseph’s in Redhill, Holy Family in Reigate and St Teresa of the Child Jesus in Merstham. Whilst retaining its three Churches, the new Parish is administered as a single Parish under the care of Fr Tony Bridson.  Working with Fr Tony are Deacon Tim Murrill and key groups of lay representatives from the three Churches.

Thought for the week

In God, our crosses are not the end of the story; they are doors to glory. In Jesus, every cross leads to resurrection, every darkness to light, every loss to communion.
