VOCATIONS IN THE PARISH Some of you may know that for the past few years I have been discerning my call to religious life. In a continuation of this discernment, this Sunday I will be travelling to Southend to enter as a postulant with the Congregation of the Sisters of Nazareth. They are a worldwide congregation who model their lives on the Holy Family, very apt as my faith has been nurtured and grown in this parish. I would like to thank those of you who have included me in your prayers and to ask you all to keep me in them during this time. Please be assured of my prayers for the parish. Hannah Corcoran
RELIGIOUS ITEMS If you have any spare religious items, e.g. statues, crucifixes, etc., please bring them to the parish office.
WINTER NIGHT SHELTER - VOLUNTEERS For a number of years, our parish has been one of the local hosts of the Winter Night Shelter coordinated by the Redhill charity ‘the Renewed Hope Trust’. The shelter runs from December to March in a number of churches in East Surrey where homeless people are welcomed in for an evening cooked meal, a roof over their heads for the night and breakfast in a safe and welcoming environment. There are many ways to help, including driving, befriending, cooking, serving dinner and there are also opportunities to donate food, clothing and toiletries. Have a look at their website: https://rhtes.org If you would like to know more or like to help in some way please contact the parish office.

SURREY’S FIRST COMMUNITY CAFE
A not-for-profit community cafe has just opened in the new Merstham Hub called the Merstham Mix. The objectives are to strengthen the local community bonds, promote healthy eating, provide affordable food to all and free hot meals to all our local food-bank users. We will also be reducing food waste by supplementing our kitchen with food surpluses from supermarkets and farms. Merstham Facilities Community Trust and Loveworks are on the organising end and although we have a wonderful chef, we need volunteers for the kitchen and FOH to keep our costs low. If you would like the opportunity (training given!) please contact Anna on 07929498430 or [email protected]
gmail.com for more information. Our website is www.mersthamcc.org.uk to read all about it!
