THE ASCENT - Discipleship Process for Young People
This October, the ASCENT - a three-year discipleship process involving three residential weekends a year and weekly online group sessions, will be launching at Worth Abbey with the support of the diocese. It’s open to any-one in year 10, 11, or 12. It’s designed to take people with a real interest in their faith and to help them to make a deeper commitment and to explore who God created them to be, while making a few friends and hopefully having some fun in the process. For more details, visit theascentuk.co.uk or email [email protected] dabnet.org
THE DIOCESAN VISION - PLANNING TOWARDS 2030
Bishop Richard has written to say that the text of the plan is now coming together and meetings will take place in the Autumn. These meetings will be open to everyone in each Deanery and the plan will be presented by a team of people. The Redhill Deanery meeting will be held at the Sacred Heart, Caterham on Monday 10th December at 7pm.
If you are applying for your child to attend St Bede’s or St Joseph’s, or another Faith School, in Sept 2019, in the relevant form please fill in ‘Parish of the Nativity of the Lord’ as your parish and ‘Fr Tony Bridson’ as Parish Priest. Some time in the autumn we will make arrangements to sign the supplementary forms, so watch this space!
WINTER NIGHT SHELTER - VOLUNTEERS
For a number of years, our parish has been one of the local hosts of the Winter Night Shelter coordinated by the Redhill charity ‘the Renewed Hope Trust’. The shelter runs from December to March in a number of churches in East Surrey where homeless people are welcomed in for an evening cooked meal, a roof over their heads for the night and breakfast in a safe and welcoming environment. There are many ways to help, including driving, befriending, cooking, serving dinner and there are also opportunities to donate food, clothing and toiletries. Have a look at their website: https://rhtes.org If you would like to know more or like to help in some way please contact the parish office.
