WORLD MEETING OF FAMILIES PILGRIMAGE
21ST-26TH AUGUST - In 9 days time this international event begins. Held every three years this event brings together families from across the world to celebrate, pray and reflect upon the importance of marriage and the family as the cornerstone of our lives, and of the Church. Web: https://worldmeeting2018.ie
The official prayer is: God, our Father, we are brothers and sisters in Jesus your Son, one family, in the Spirit of your love. Bless us with the joy of love. Make us patient and kind, gentle and generous, welcoming to those in need. Help us to live your forgiveness and peace. Protect all families with your loving care. Increase our faith, strengthen our hope, keep us safe in your love. Make us always grateful for the gift of life that we share. This we ask, through Christ our Lord.

ADOREMUS EUCHARISTIC CONGRESS 2018
Eucharist is… Food for the Journey
We might do well to take a moment to thank God for all that we have received, materially and in prayer. All that we have faced in our lives we did not face alone. Always God’s strength and God’s love were at work in our hearts even when, and perhaps especially when, we did not know it at all. We can pray for those for whom the journey is hard. But we can pray too that God’s strength and love will be at work in our hearts to make us bread broken for others, bringing the nourishment of God’s love to the weary and downcast

SURREY’S FIRST COMMUNITY CAFE
A not-for-profit community cafe has just opened in the new Merstham Hub called the Merstham Mix. The objectives are to strengthen the local community bonds, promote healthy eating, provide affordable food to all and free hot meals to all our local food-bank users. We will also be reducing food waste by supplementing our kitchen with food surpluses from supermarkets and farms. Merstham Facilities Community Trust and Loveworks are on the organising end and although we have a wonderful chef, we need volunteers for the kitchen and FOH to keep our costs low. If you would like the opportunity (training given!) please contact Anna on 07929498430 or [email protected] gmail.com for more information. Our website is www.mersthamcc.org.uk to read all about it!
SATURDAY AFTERNOON GET TOGETHERS We are a friendly group of adults that meet every Saturday in the PNL Café area between 3-5 pm. We play games, chat and enjoy company over a complimentary hot drink. Parishioners, people from our local community and visitors are always welcome to come along anytime during the session. Please don't hesitate to contact the parish office if you would like to meet with me prior to coming along.
SAFEGUARDING IN THE PARISH
Some roles in the parish require volunteers to have a DBS check which are renewed every 3 years. Katie Jones, our Safeguarding Rep, will be contacting people if a re-check is needed. However if you are in a role in the parish and have not had a recheck or if you have any query on the DBS process please contact Katie on 01737 761017.
BEQUESTS THANK YOU
We are very grateful that a number of parishioners from our three churches have assisted our parish by gifting a donation to the parish in their wills. A sheet has been prepared by the diocese outlining the wording that should be used for this. It also includes information on Foundation Masses and bequests to our diocese. If you would like more information please take one of the blue sheets at the backs of all our churches.
